The Inspiration

Consider the preamble of the United States Constitution, 1787:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

It is my aspiration to help "secure the Blessings of Liberty to ... our Posterity."

The Author

I am a Research Fellow in Economics at Forethought Foundation. I am also a Research Affiliate at the Global Priorities Institute (University of Oxford), and received a grant for Progress Studies from Emergent Ventures (Mercatus Center, George Mason University).

I recently graduated as valedictorian from Columbia University, where I majored in Economics and Mathematics-Statistics.

Here is my paper on existential risk and economic growth. Covered on Marginal Revolution (here and here). I also wrote about this work for the online magazine Works in Progress.

I originally hail from Germany, though I came to the U.S. for college at 15.
